PORTFOLIO & WORKS 02——FLAT FLOATING SLAB-FORMED kINDERGARTEN 平板构成的幼儿园

This case is kindergarten with 6 classes ,the site is located in the modern urban environment, two road intersection, the modern style is the task given. In the limited site, I try to retain enough outdoor space, at the same time, to create light and transparent, rich experience of space to meet the need of children activicity, the space requirement. In addition, the “park&garden” values is an important consideration in this case, the size of the courtyard visible through the building; the “floating plate” is an important ways to make space, the functional space unity is inserted in between the “floating slab”; “abstract children face” as the sides of the building facade, suggesting that the building of “identity”.
Courtyard layout and unit structure——according to the present situation, the overall layout for main function away from the side of the road,Entrant hall, office, canteen service space is located near to the side of the road. Overall in the courtyard style layout, central courtyards for public activities, a natural class size as the basic unit in the class space. Through the unit of processing, between the basic unit also formed between the respective connected and relatively independent of the courtyard. The kindergarten “Park&Garden” concept of space thus implemented.
Floating slab and constitution of form&space——different abstract “baby face” with different “floating slab” in the design is a basic element to modeling space. They are interspersed with each other, mutually superimposed, extensed & confined with each other,a variety of the basic function unit is embedded in between them, there can be overhead,platform, indoor and outdoor space, The mutual interspersed & transparent space with the garden landscape make the child activities of mutual interaction possible. To explore the forming potential of the two-dimensional plane of “floating slab” is the starting point of the case.
Abstract children face and facade identity ——I think kindergarten as a building belonging to the children, recognition, or the “identity” should be demonstrated in the facade, to show the difference from other adult buildings. At the same time I think the manifestation of this “cultural identity” is not in such as cartoon style or Disney style like that fierce, and by way of a kind of abstract sculpture style quietly appeared. The children’s laughter, anger, sorrow and happiness tend to write on their face, thus, the expression of the “happiness, anger, sadness and joy” of abstract expression becomes the “expression” of the building, also the “identity” of facade.
