We believe the construction of emergency schools in the areas of Gorkha, Sindhupalchowk and Nuwakot to be a primary concern in the rehabilitation of Nepal. Not only have the earthquakes destroyed 90% of the school facilities but the mountainous landscape will make reconstruction very difficult. The project of an emergency school in the mountain area involves two main qualities: swiftness and sustainability.

The core principle of our architectural proposal is rapid construction. The system is designed in such a way that it can be transported by helicopter to the site in the mountain. This project requires five transport cases. The difficult location and vehicle accessibility of the valleys have dictated the design of the system, resulting in the use of a minimal amount of externally sourced materials. The assemblage can adapt to segment of different natures: big bamboos, trunks, and remaining structural elements from collapsed buildings. As a result, one would see a criss-crossed bamboo frame which can support a variety of building skins. The outer shell of the building will progress from temporary tarpaulin to permanent mud walls. The structure provides flexibility to maintain both the roof and walls during an earthquake.

The school is made of five areas: two classrooms, a lavatory, one covered and one outdoor courtyard. The treatment of the walls can be varied depending on the function of the space they enclose. Most importantly, this architectural concept allows for the quick and easy restructuring and addition of spaces. For instance, a covered courtyard could easily become a third classroom. The buildings respond to the terraced site, the size of the terrace, and the distance between each level. In this way, the system is very responsive to its surroundings, the possibility of future seismic activity and the changes this could bring about.

2015年04月25日14时11分在尼泊尔发生8.1级地震。同年05月12日15时05分在尼泊尔发生7.5级地震。数以万计的人们失去了自己的亲人。

地震给尼泊尔人带来的不仅仅是一次性的对生命、财产、文化的伤害,还会带给他们许多长期的,甚至终生性的伤害。大量人员死亡切断了人们之间的社会关系网,让每个人都成为孤独的受害者。那些在地震中失去亲人的家庭,往往会承受长期的痛苦。无论是失去父母的小孩、失去老伴和儿女的老人、失去丈夫的妇女,孤独,思念,回忆会长期伴随着他们。

以往常规的灾后重建都没能很好地为这类人群考虑。因此本方案利用尼泊尔家族聚居模式和传统的院落住宅空间,设计多个传统尺度的半开放小院宅,熟悉的人们共同居住在小院落中,形成一个亲密的小家族。而3到5个小院又会组成一个大院,形成一个社会化的大家庭。最终重建社会关系网络,来自不同家庭的失亲者相互帮助,相互安慰,相互扶持,共同迈向崭新的生活。

The April 2015 Nepal earthquake killed more than 9,000 people, thousands of people lost their loved ones in tears. The earthquake not only caused one-time damage, but also did long-term damage even permanent damage,especially for the families which lost their members. The parents who lost their children, the old who lost their son, the wife who lost their husband, these person can be chronically lonely and sad, even live a helplessness life.

The past regular disaster reconstruction projects have not managed to consider for this group of people. We, hence design several semi-open courtyards from traditional scale(smaller one) to relatively large scale. Smaller courtyards may compose bigger ones. 3to 5 families, which lost family members, or individuals could build up a new family. People who lost their beloved-ones from different families, help one another, and step into their new epoch of lives.

Although the design task is a temporary kindergarten, our design intention is to design a long lasting and sustainable building system that could contribute to the future of the earthquake affected area. It is an easily constructed system. However, it is easy constructibility should not be related to temporariness. Through a series of design approaches, the richness of the space should contribute to the pride of the community which in turn enrich the meaning of the architecture. In an expectable future, the architectural system could constantly serve the community, becoming a permanent structure.

Few measures that influenced our kindergarten design:

设计来源于对尼泊尔印度教的研究及其精神空间的转译。我们希望在给尼泊尔的受灾民众提供一个舒适的庇护场所的同时,在灾民等待家乡重建的过程中,能够借助宗教以及社区的力量来帮助他们获得心灵上的重生。

Our design comes from the study of Hinduism in Nepal and the translation of their spiritual space. We hope that we can offer not only a comfortable shelter for the disaster-stricken people, but also the mental rebirth in the process of the reconstruction of their homes.

通过将震后可利用的废弃物以及剩余人力资源集中起来,并提供简单的建造模式,让民众能够在志愿者的引导下参与自建工作。将废弃的砖石填入轮胎作为建筑的基础,不会破坏现有的场地的同时,起到隔震的作用。建筑的主体结构采用速生廉价的竹材,通过简单的捆扎和榫卯方式进行连接,从而降低建筑的自重及造价。竹材较强的力学性能也能保证余震后建筑内人员的安全。

By gathering the waste and human resources after the earthquake, we designed a self-building mode to help the local people to build their homes by themselves with the guidance of volunteers. The deserted masonry can be filled into tyres to create the bases of the building without the destruction of sites which is also helpful for preventing damages by earthquake. The fast-growing and low-cost bamboo materials can be used as the main structure of the building to lower the weight and cost of it. Also, the excelllent stress tolerance of bamboo can cope with the aftershocks in the area, to ensure the safety of the people. …

Most earthquake-related deaths are caused by the collapse of structures and the construction practices play a tremendous role in the death toll of an earthquake

Building practices can make all the difference in earthquakes, even a moderate rupture beneath a city with structures unprepared for shaking can produce tens of thousands of casualties

The April 2015 Nepal earthquake (also known as the Gorkha earthquake)[6][9] killed more than 8,800 people and injured more than 23,000.

Its epicenter was east of the district of Lamjung, and its hypocenter was at a depth of approximately 15 km (9.3 mi). It has been the worst natural disaster to strike Nepal since the 1934 Nepal–Bihar earthquake

Hundreds of thousands of people were made homeless with entire villages flattened, across many districts of the country.

Based on these factors we have worked upon temporary emergency shelters. The key element of this design is a rcc drainage pipe used as a module.

水容器的家 / The house as a water container
尼泊爾有豐富的水資源,卻因為沒有好的存水設施,導致缺水狀況嚴重,所以企圖打造不只是災民的家,也是收集水的容器系統。
在發生天災過後,常會有大量運送的補給品物資,而裝補給品的收納箱是我們認為重要的組構單元,如果可以統一這些收納箱,我們就可以利用它來組構房子的牆體,每個收納箱就像一塊磚,堆疊起來就像是有厚度的牆體容器,它可以收集雨水再利用,所以當所有屋子的牆體容器都裝滿水,利用彼此間的聯繫,就可以形成一個可調節的水系統。

可調整的空間系統 / Adjustable space system
主要結構利用回收的鷹架來組構,鷹架是建造房子的臨時假設工程,鷹架因為需要可方便運送,所以開發出工業化的模具尺寸,也因組構時間快速,構築簡單,可以大量降低人力的組裝, 空間骨架中利用回收的鷹架來組構,讓當地民眾可以一同參與施工架低人力成本,也可因應當地需求調整空間關係,在開放系統的骨架中填塞容器,使內部牆體的容器成為收納空間,而外部空間成為水資源系統。利用當地的衣服布料作為最外層的皮層,讓每個家屋都可以有自我的面材,也可以利用布來調節濕氣與隔熱,讓屋子可擁有舒適氣候的環境。

应急建造——变形轻钢

设计通过可伸缩旋转的刚性支架作为应急避难所的结构体系,该支架可以水平支撑,可以垂直拼接拓展,便于运输。维护系统既可以选择应急的帐篷,也可以选择当地砖及波纹瓦进行建造。以轻钢为骨架的支撑系统主要体现适应性强,共同协作建造,低成本,可回收的设计原则,以此应对在复杂的灾难现场,自愿者与灾民协作及时恢复居住条件和秩序的策略。

地震灾后,刚刚经受重大创伤的灾民在不断地余震中惊慌度日。对他们而言,有一个安稳的生活环 境尤为奢侈却极其必要。该设计针对从灾后避难、过渡安置、重建回迁、恢复正常生活再到未来的 灾难预防性,进行了一套循环性建筑设计,陪伴居民始终。除避难空间、安置空间外,插入宗教、 集会空间唤起居民日常生活记忆;加入雨水收集、墙上种植课堂、以物换物场所、信息获取中心及 心理辅导医疗室辅助灾民恢复日常生活。在灾后重建及恢复过程中,建筑本体被拆解为不同功能单 体,渗透到日常生活中继续发挥作用。拆解后的建筑则化身城市公园,为未来的灾难提供庇护新一 轮的庇护、安置……空间。此乃∞-CYCLE。 建筑采用灾区廉价易得或方便运输的材料——蔬菜筐、木栈板、软玻璃、捆线及震毁建筑废材。降 低了建造成本,建造难度,易于灾民参与到建造过程当中“以赈代工”。同时,这些材料的使用提高 了生活空间品质。

定日羊毛球幼儿园 [GARS-GARSA4]

“民族游戏将会是灾后儿童心中永不倒塌的支柱, 羊毛球幼儿园不仅仅是定日儿童提供活动场所, 更要成为他们生活新的喜悦与希望!”

“搜索羊毛球”是藏族儿童的一项充满探险精神的寻宝类游戏。孩子们中稍大的孩子会担任裁判一职,让其他孩子背过身去、闭上眼睛不能偷看,再把一个包着神秘奖品的羊毛球藏在一个难找的地方,然后大声宣布寻宝活动的开始,让孩子们开始放开手四处寻找。裁判在这个过程中会用淘气的暗示迷惑其他孩子,让他们被误导得在场地里跑来跑去,十分有趣。一旦有人发现了羊毛球,大家都会围上去激烈的争抢,将游戏推向高潮。

定日羊毛球幼儿园的设计灵感正是来源于这项传统藏族儿童游戏。临时幼儿园毛茸茸的外表,会唤起孩子们对羊毛球这项熟悉的游戏的联想;同时圆形的建筑外表,似宝珠、像飞船,又会激发孩子无穷的想象力。

尼泊尔8.1级强震共波及西藏19个县区,其中定日县是三大重灾县之一。全县逾万户房屋受损。

本案选址于白坝村的定日完小南侧空地。白坝村距定日县政府仅6公里,并且毗邻318国道,十分便于迅速集结救援团队和集散救援物资,适合做为定日灾后临时庇护和重建的基地。 …

构思来自于慕尼黑建材展上所见到的快速建造案例,在该案例中,用硬化泡沫塑料以乐高积木的拼接方式竖起中间空心的墙,往内灌入混凝土,硬化塑料部分充当了模板的同时也作为混凝土墙体的保温层。其时我思考这种建造模式,模板轻盈,易于拼接且不需拆卸,混凝土一般在2天左右即可硬化但需要近一个月才能达到设计强度。如果不用混凝土,在小体量单层的方案中,硬化泡沫塑料已经可以作为独立的结构墙体。在灾后重建中,硬化泡沫塑料易生产和运输,模数化的分割和乐高式的榫卯接口也易于当地居民手工建造,尤其是在灾后可能有余震的情况下,泡沫塑料即使倒塌也不会伤人,尤其适合幼儿园这样有特殊使用人群的类型。

方案将本来用于浇筑混凝土的空间尺度放大,置入功能。 并将墙进行错位,使空间大小异化以适应不同行为。以轻型钢拉结两片墙增加稳固性,同时作为地坪与屋顶的檩条。所有构件均模数化以尽量减少尺寸种类。考虑到当地盛产竹材,可用竹材代替钢筋,穿与泡沫塑料之内,增强竖向构件间的稳定性。

The conception come from the fast-building tecnique, which use the Expanding polystyrene rigid foam board as the formwork of concreting, where esch element ensemble as LEGO toy block. Then they pour concrete in the cavity while the Expanding polystyrene rigid foam board act as the insulation and needn’t disassemble . The material is light ,easy to transport and build, especially when Aftershock happen it will not damage the users. So I design the nursery with the Expanding polystyrene rigid foam board as indepndent wall. With the junction like LEGO, it can be easily building by local people. Limited the hight and scale, it is study enough for being estructure.. I amplify the distance between two elemente and input function in where was concrete bedore. The distance can be varied to suit diferent activity. Steel bar is used as straining beam to enforce the relative stability. Also the bamboo cam be used to connect the element by threading them together.

Just a Minute

An earthquake can ruin the life of an entire community in a minute. This instant temporary home can give a new chance to start their life again in “just a minute” as well. “Just a Minute” aims to build a new life for nepalese people, giving them a simple but efficient house, very open to customization and future switching into a stable house. The main idea of the project is to use local Nepalese materials, or from close countries, to make a house that can be built quickly, lightweight and compact to transport, durable (despite it is temporary) and economic.

The use of a deployable structure made of bamboo and textile building envelope, allows transport the house closed occupying a footprint of 2.5 x 4 meters and, once open, to get a 4 x 7.11 meters house. Its fabrication does not require complex technologies or skilled labor, but just a series of simple operations useful to prepare the various parts to be assembled all together. The modularity of the structure allows to organize the construction process in stages, as in an assembly line. For instance, the bamboo modules can be prepared by a team, a second team can prepare the central core, another can handle the textile envelope, and so on. Obviously, some parts can be prefabricated, so as to arrive on the fabrication site already pre-worked, speeding up the process.

At the center of the house there is a permanent part, made of coverable wooden OSB panels, equipped with all the services (bathroom and kitchen), which measures 1.5 x 4 meters. On the sides of the central block, are deployed the two main rooms (living area and sleeping area) which measure 4 x 4 meters, plus a small covered outdoor area of 1 x 4 meters. The two side rooms consist, in fact, of horizontal (floor), vertical (upright) and oblique (roof) bamboo poles with a diameter of 6 cm, braced by bamboo poles arranged in X, with a diameter of 3 cm. These poles are drilled at the center and at the ends, so as to allow the structure to unfold. The fixing of the poles, after opening the structure, is ensured by butterfly screws. This installation system requires few volunteers and a very simple process…

每一次灾难的降临,都伴随着辛酸苦辣,但带给我们的却是新的挑战和机遇,也是又一次的奋起和顽强,2015年4月25日,一声巨响打破了人们平静的生活,地震袭来了,面对突如其来的灾难,安置大量无家可归的难民成为了首要问题,在此基础上,我进行了灾中临时安置房的设计,此设计以乐高积木为原型,在此基础上进行结构改造,将其划分为不同的结构单元,并且与灾民的救援物资联系起来,提高了安置房的施工效率,同时保证救援物资与安置房的同时到达,确保灾民在最短时间得到安置。 在建造材料的选取时,我选用了新型有机材料ABS合成树脂,也是工程塑料的一种,这种材料稳定性高,同时为轻质可回收材料,我通过将其加工成相同尺寸的模块单元,实现了生产过程的高效,同时在每个模块内甲保温层,保证了临时安置房的保温条件,模块最内部为空腔结构,用于填充各种不同的救援物资,如饮用水,衣物,通信设备,食品等,保证了救援物资与安置房的同时到达,在短时间内安置灾民,体现了作为设计师的人文关怀。

Jigsaw Puzzle Shelter

Background

Among the past shelters, fast production and comfortable living condition couldn’t always be approached at the same time. Some shelters could be constructed in a short term and cost relatively little money, but the living condition inside the shelters was not satisfying. Refugees always complained about the problems that there was not enough space, every people in one family had to sleep in one single room; it was too dark inside the shelter, and there was always rain leaking from outside; the crying voice and noise of people losing there families coming from outside could be heard very clearly, which was not helpful for psychological rehabilitation; the smell from public toilet was too strong; there was too much mud and many insects inside the shelter; the aesthetic design of shelters had no connection with local culture that people could barely feel they were living at home. On the other hand, to construct a shelter for refugees with a good living condition would cost the government and organizations too much energetically and financially with a much longer time.

Meanwhile, the technology of CNC milling machine (laser cutter) and 3D printer has been developed extremely rapidly. These kinds of technologies make building and producing much faster and more popular, that almost everyone can make industrial products, even architectures by themselves.

Vernacular Architecture in Nepal

The traditional house in Nepal has the characteristics as follows:

The house has two sides slope roof. The materials that the building is made of are mainly wood and stone. Wood will be used as structure and stone will be use as walls and foundations.

The shape of the house is normally a straight simple volume. Sometimes local people will attach one or two more volumes to the main one to form an L or C shape…

FLEXHOME – emergency shelter

FLEXHOME, is a folding modular home, of quick to assemble, lightweight and easy to transport useful in emergencies as a temporary home because it has a lightweight and foldable structure, which makes it stackable and easy to carry in large amounts and being able to lift refugee camps in minutes, since you only need 1 or 2 people to assemble the house in less than 10 minutes.

This house is inspired in tent camping and the mobile homes. FLEXHOME is a lightweight structure with wheels that allows it to be easily transported and assembled in minutes.

It consists of 75% fabric and 25% aluminum, polycarbonate and chipboard wood.

The house is designed based on fabric modules attached to aluminum frames allowing be folded horizontally pulling the sides, thus avoiding the use of any specialized machine.

The wheels allow isolating the house of the soil making the air circulate underneath avoiding moisture problems and possible diseases that may contain the ground.

The space is designed to function as a temporary home, but thanks to its modularity and flexibility can function as, hospital, school or other function, FLEXHOME also has the versatility of a mobile home but with the lightness of a tent camping, for what it can be transported or towed by an alone person in bicycle

GARS-GARSA4 LOVE FLOWER

The sun on the national flag of Nepal looks like a blooming flower, full of hope, blessing homeland forever.
尼泊尔国旗上的太阳亦如一朵绽放的希望之花,寄托了国家与日月长久共存的愿望。

In the meantime, the two overlapping triangles on the national flag of Nepal represent Himalayas, reminding people of the edelweiss, small and white, clean and bright, dancing freely.
国旗上两个重叠的三角象征喜马拉雅山,让人联想起无忧无虑、翩翩飘舞的雪绒花。

In both Buddhism and Hinduism, Lotus has its unique symbolic significance. Lotus touches something deep in the heart of the Oriental culture-peace, joy, delight, supernature and smile.
莲花无论是在佛教还是印度教,都有其独特的象征意义。莲花象征深入东方文化的骨髓,宁静、愉悦、超脱和微笑。

The design of “Love flower ” is a combination of lotus, the sun and the edelweiss, with the management of modular containers to form a standard unit. The final shape of the Kindergarten is adjustable, according to scale and real use to form a ring pattern with 6, 8 or 10 standard units. The main concept is to provide a paradise for the kids in the disaster stricken area. Blossom of love flower may the kids bloom and grow, bloom and grow forever. And bless Nepal forever.
“爱之花”的形象,是莲花、太阳和雪绒花意象的融合,并巧妙用模数化的集装箱拼合成独立的标准单元。幼儿园最终的形态可根据规模大小和实际需求进行组合,形成6 瓣、8 瓣、10 瓣等的环状模式,为灾区儿童提供一处学习和游戏的乐园,希望他们尽快从灾难中挺过来。

Chute to Shelter

我们的应急庇护所设计灵感来源于提高空投物资时投物伞的利用效率,将运输、结构、空间集合为一体,降落伞伞衣本身匹配充气结构,落地充气形成支撑及围护结构,成为应急庇护所空间。 空投物资包括其余必要组件和医疗、食品等物资。物资打包尺寸及重量均经过计算符合投物伞的空投能力。 设计中还提供了特色的雨水收集系统、多功能设备设施、集成化设计理念,提高了救援效率和灵活度,并使受灾民众具备一定的救援能力,同时降低了成本,节约了时间。

Design has transported, structure, space set as a whole together.Airdrop based.The parachute itself is matched with the inflatable structure, which is formed of supporting structure.The rest of the components including airdrop supplies and medical, food and other supplies.With characteristics of rainwater harvesting system, multifunctional equipments, integrated design concept to improve the rescue efficiency and flexibility, and reduces the cost,at the same time.

震災後的重建,並不只是解決災難當地當時的問題,更多的是解決過去積累下來的問題。這客觀的限制條件,讓設計難度加大。

這也是在選擇一等獎時最難之處,因為它的可執行度必須嚴肅考慮。二等、三等獎、及入圍獎則可以有較為開放的想像空間,雖然有些瑕疵,但都有改進可能, 畢竟希望激發更多的創新方案能出現,也要對未來的災難作預案。

一等獎的Big Family,跨出個別家庭,有社區關係的觀點,即便看法可能有爭議,但空間規畫明確,建築體系完整可執行且簡單靈活,配置調動的可能性高, 形成可供社區居民討論的開放平台。

另一獲獎項目GARSA3,體現了專業介入與災民間”互為主體”的觀念與有效的操作方法,結合節點機構簡單,有運輸方便與快速施工的優勢, 災民可自力救濟,能使用災區大量回收竹木料結合簡單技術,可以有效地運用在臨時建築的建設上。

The reconstruction after the earthquake is not only to solve the problem that happening at the moment,but also to solve the problems in the old time.So the degree of difficulty increased because the limits.

This is the hardest point to judge the first prize because we need to seriously consider the implementation capacity.The second prize,the third prize,and the prize for the shortlist own their more imaginary space.Though they got their weak points.They still have chance to improve.We are looking forward to finding out more creative projects act as the pre-arranged planning for catastrophe in the future.

Big family who won the first prize got their own opinion about the society relationship but not a small family.Although we got the opposite ideas,the still won by their clear space planning,the executable architecture system.The high possibility for equipment,especially for the open platform for the resident.

Another project GARSA3 which won the prize show us the concept of “complementary main body “between the intervention and the victims .The also got the advantages ,simple panel point,convenient transportation.So that the victims can do the reconstruction quickly.Recycling bamboo and wood which can be used in the reconstruction and temporary construction is a superiority

跨专业的评委内部研讨,整理发掘了灾后救急与重建的价值议题以及技术考量。尼泊尔大地震直接促使很多竞赛参加者关注轻量建筑系统的使用。灾后重建通常会有几个阶段,第一是应急重建,常常使用帐篷搭建,这阶段房屋产品的策略选择与能否短时、集中投放会极端重要;第二就是安置重建,轻型的有一定刚度的建筑系统将是这一阶段的得力工具。第三将是永久性的重建,建筑物的多样性以及社会涵义会影响到长久的品质。而将临时和长期建造综合在一起,将有机会带来新的创意,应用也不会在当地制造大的材料与建造浪费。尼泊尔大地震灾后重建设计竞赛类的不少工作也可以出现在水灾、海啸、大规模火灾、人道危机等的灾后重建中。

不少竞赛者注意到了偏远地区的生活诗意,但由于很多关键建筑材料与工具无法在灾后及时提供,重建品质受到很多自然的挑战,一些有意思的尝试值得注意:提供工具箱或者提供节点,再由地方人士建造。

最后是一点建议:当竞赛成员作为陌生人去到外地工作时,当地人此时是在观察团队,通过工作的成效建立着对团队的信任。因此当获奖者的第一个项目应该是高度集成的、有相当技术含量的,并且可以通过形式美与空间带来美好希望的。理想情况下,团队可能设定一个有关未来发展的标准。

The issue and technology of after earthquake rescue and reconstruction was summarized by the discussion of cross professional judges. The great earthquake of Nepal directly make many competitors focus on the usage of light weight architecture system. The reconstruction after earthquake usually consists three stages. The first stage is rescue reconstruction, usually using -tents. The selection strategy of house products of this stage focus on the concentrated construction in a short time, which is vitally important. The second stage is resettling reconstruction, light architecture system with some stiffness will be powerful tools. The third stage is perpetual reconstruction, in which stage the diversity and society meaning will influence long-term life quality of the residents. The combination of temporary and perpetual reconstruction will bring new inspirations to rescue construction and save architecture materials. Many works in the reconstruction competition of Nepal great earthquake can also be applied in the reconstruction of disasters like tsunami, flood inundation, fire hazard.

Some competitors also notice the poetic dwelling of remote area, but as many crucial materials and tools cannot be provided in short time after the disaster, the reconstruction quality face the challenge of local situation. An interesting attempt deserves attention: the tool case and materials are left for the locals to reconstruct.

The last suggestion is: when the competitors work in Nepal as foreigners, at that time, local people are observing the team. Only by the results of the reconstruction work can build their trust with native people. Therefore, the prize-winners’ first project is supposed to be highly concentrated and skillful, and can bring hope to locals using its beauty in shape and form. In an ideal condition, the team can set a standard for future development.

參與此次評審的過程,無疑是一場學習之旅,從一個個花了心思與時間的作品中,讓我一步步的更貼近真實。專業像是奢侈的表白,如果沒能貼近真實,我們又能說些什麼?

作品中無論從質和量著眼,均有一定的水準,精彩的圖片說明,不停閃爍的亮點想法,讓此次評選過程顯得格外愉快而珍貴!選擇作品的過程是痛苦的,因為永遠有遺珠之憾,然而有趣的是,這種遺憾的感覺,似乎在評審彼此間理性邏輯與感性體認的交叉印証下,竟也慢慢釋懷!而價值判斷及取向就在這樣的過程中漸次成形!

在永久性作品的討論中,BIG FAMILY這個作品,以震後不同羣體或個體的組合關係,創造了三個小小聚落,建築形式沒往過度現代性的角落鑽,反倒真實的反應了在地居所在材料及構築的合理性建造上。並利用大家庭的觀念充分將社會性議題融入建築議題中,為震後建築帶入一股暖流,將家庭價值具體融入設計中,跳脫理性的構築框架,提供災區新型態建築之可能!

在臨時性作品中,如何在最短時間將「建築物」在偏遠山區組立起來,無疑地是最重要的任務,這包括空投物件的「穩定性」及施作的「便利性」,而這種臨時的居所的思考關鍵就在於「接頭」的設計,得獎作品成功的將上述因子,擠壓到一個接頭的設計,此接頭輕巧,便於安裝,未必是最精緻或穏固,却能有效搭起輕型構造物,提供至少五種不同的使用需求。「簡單,便利,穏定」讓這作品從眾多競爭者中脫穎而出。

等二奨原則上是一奨的延長賽/六角形的蜂窩狀多功能組合屋展現的亮眼彈性使用策略/L型在地性高的石頭屋和它的動人互動角落/有機可隨地形調整的竹製向心形聚落/平台竹拱的精緻單體與隨機佈局。也在多輪討論後漸次浮出台面。

第三奨的作品相對於一,二奨的嚴謹,就顯得創意十足,輕鬆愉快,比如來自荷蘭的彩虹屋,明顯不可行却又如此振奮人心⋯⋯。有太多的精彩在腦中盤旋無法盡述。恭喜獲奨的作者,更要謝謝所有參賽團隊或個人,本次競賽因你們熱情的付出而偉大,更要感謝其他六位評審的不吝賜教,能有機會同台切磋,本人滿心感激!此次評審過程,透明而愉快,相信這有意義的活動,終能開花結果,齊心為災民做出貢獻!

Those wonderful pictures of each work expressed their own quality and quantity, which I learn a lot through this emergency review. It let me feel closer to real from these thoughtful works. Professional like a luxury.

Chosen progression is hard since there is always some regret. However, it is interesting that regret dismissed during the review between logical, rational and perceptual body recognition of cross validation! The value judgment and orientation form gradually.

BIG FAMILY, in permanent works, there are three small settlements built by different post-earthquake group or individual combination relations. This building form gives a real reaction about home location materials using and construction rationality. Then integration of family values specific will be fully involved social issues into architecture, which provide disaster model state building!

In temporary works, insulation in the shortest time at the remote mountainous area is the most important task. This includes aerial object of “stability” and of “convenience” and the temporary residence of critical thinking is “joint” design. Winning success of the factor squeezed into the design of a joint, which is lightweight and easy to install a light structural providing at least five different needs. “Simple, convenient, stable” make this talent work shows from competitors.

Hexagonal – honeycomb – Multi – highlights prefabs has flexible using tactics. L type, Located at upland areas, use stone as the main building material works. Its moving also create interactive corner space. Organic bamboo can be adjusted with the terrain to the heart-shaped settlement. Delicate bamboo arch monomer platform is delicate, which can random layout easily. After several rounds of discussion, these works are in the ranks as second prize .

We are glad to see so many works are creative, relaxing and happy. Holland rainbow house, as a good example, is not a easy feasible but so inspire people. Congratulations to these prize-winners and thank all participating teams or individuals. Hope this meaningful activity can do contribute to the victims!

地震灾后重建是复杂的系统工程,但最终要落实到每一栋建筑上。无论是灾中应急的临时建筑还是灾后永久性的建筑,都将体现地震的烙印,反映出人类在面对自然灾害时的建筑应对。建筑,也只有在这个时候才真正回归到它的本源——人类的庇护所。为了满足基本生存要求,它需要被快速建造,要足够安全以抵御余震,要满足气候对建筑的限制,要防寒保暖御湿,要能抚慰心灵的伤痛,还要具有社会互助的功能和意义,更需要体现关爱和人文情怀。看似简单,实则是个大课题!

回顾紧张的评审过程:理性、热烈,伴随着多维视角的讨论,不断反思与推敲,甚至激烈的观点碰撞和理念交锋,真如一场知识与思想的盛宴,也令作为评委之一的我深受启发且获益匪浅!最终,经过7位评委反复斟酌评选出的获奖方案,均在某一个或多个方面集中体现出灾后建筑的本质特征,并能具有全面系统的解决策略和机智的处理手法。

A 类别一等奖方案通过一个关键节点的精准介入,利用节点设计的灵活性和通用性对当地材料进行充分有效地利用,并可借助当地民众的积极参与快速建造,最大限度利用当地资源,从而保证建筑的本土特征。这种看似“轻松”却充满“智慧”的建造策略,一点介入,却全面考量,具有极大灵活性和适应性,也是在所有作品中被认为最具有系统性思维的方案。对于灾后永久性建筑,B类别一等奖方案通过一个强大的“Big Family”的理念,体现了建筑群组的社会学价值,其精神层面的意义传达令所有评委印象深刻。建筑单体形式简洁,富有地域性特征,建造技术具有可实施性;群体空间组织灵活丰富,“家”的理念贯穿始终,给人以生活的信心和希望。

二等奖的评选标准与一等奖类似,均着重于作品是否体现出设计理念与现实可行性之间的平衡。四个方案各有特点,代表了四种不同的设计方向,但除了蜂巢方案与文化关联较少外,其余三个作品均采用具有地域特征的材料如竹材和石材的建造方式,从而表达出对尼泊尔传统建造文化的尊重。“向心屋”作品更是直接源自对尼泊尔印度教原型空间的转译,从而在作品中注入了宗教的力量,强调了传统文化与价值观对于灾后建筑的重要价值。

三等奖及入围方案更是体现出无穷无尽的想象力和对尼泊尔及西藏地域文化的多重解读。只不过评委认为相对于一等及二等而言,要么过于强调理念而弱现实性,要么重实施而忽视理念的价值。但正如前面提到,灾后重建是大课题,很难也不应该通过一次评审就简单地划分设计的层级,因为从方案到现实的路径是无法准确体现在图纸里的,只有实际落地的检验才是最终评判,而且评判者不再是评委,是灾区的人民。

竞赛总要分出优胜和落选,但对于所有参赛者而言,每一个作品都是智慧和爱心的结晶,无关优劣高下。所有的作品都寄托着梦想,也都具有深入发展的可能。期望所有参赛者——无论获奖与否,都能珍视梦想,延续梦想,最终有机会实现梦想!

The reconstruction after earthquake is a complicated engineering program, which have to be implemented on every building. Temporary emergency buildings and the permanent buildings will reflect the earthquake’s mark and human’s building response to the natural disasters. Architecture, which returned to its origin, shows up as the shelter of mankind. In order to meet the basic survival requirement, it needs to be quickly built, safe enough to withstand aftershocks and climate of architectural constraints. To soothe people’s feeling, it also needs significance of social assistance and reflection of human feelings. It is a struggle problem although seems simple.

Reviewing of intense review process, it contained rational, passion, accompanied by multi angle of view discussion, constant reflection and deliberation. Although there is fierce collision point of view and ideas, it still is a feast as a field of knowledge and ideas, also make me and benefit bandit is shallow! After 7 judges repeatedly consider the selection, we choose one which has more aspects to reflect the essence of the post disaster architecture and can have a comprehensive system to solve the strategy.

First-prize of A, through a key node of precision intervention, use node design which has flexibility and versatility of local materials to make full effective. This program also can ask help from local people to participate in rapid construction, which maximize the use of local resources. Therefore, it can ensure local characteristics of building which seems “relaxed” with “wisdom” of the construction strategy. This program has the greatest flexibility and adaptability in all the works. For post disaster permanent building, B first-prize has a powerful “big family” concept which reflected the group building of social value and the significance of the spirit profound. The form of building is simple and full of regional features, whose construction technology has the ability to implement. The group space organization is flexible. Runed through all the time, Idea of “home” gives people the confidence and hope of life.

Second-prize, has similar selection criteria with first prize, are focused on the work is reflected in the design concept and the reality of the balance between the feasibility. Each of the four programs represent four different design directions. Except honeycomb scheme has less cultural relevance, other three works are used in the construction of regional features. For example, bamboo and stone expresses the traditional culture of Nepal. The work of the “Central House” directly derived from the translation of the prototype space in Nepalese Hindu. Power of religion is injected into the works, which emphasizes the important value of the traditional culture and values in the construction of the disaster.

Third and candidate prize reflected the endless imagination and the multiple interpretation of the cultural and Nepal and Tibet. Compared with the first and second prize, these project emphasis more about concept with weak reality, or strong implementation without concept. As I mentioned above, the post disaster reconstruction is a big issue, path from the program to the reality is unable to accurately reflected in the drawings, only the actual landing test is the final evaluation. The judge is the people of disaster areas, not us.

For all participants, each works are the crystallization of the wisdom and love, which regardless of the superiority or inferiority. All of the work is a dream with possibility of further development. It is expected that all the participants they will continue, and finally have the opportunity to achieve their dreams!

灾后建筑需要的不仅仅是庇护人的身体,为灾民提供遮风避雨的栖息之所,同时它还应该能够庇护人的灵魂,成为灾民的心灵家园。这些建筑不仅可以帮助恢复生产,生活秩序,也能抚慰人的心灵创伤,激发出灾区人民重建更美好家园的动力。作为震后混乱与无助状态的亲历者,我知道灾后建筑应不仅具备“方便建造、快速建造、结构合理”的结构特点,还需要具有文化上的共识,容易被普通人读懂和接受,具有互助共享的社会意义,给人以全新的生活景象以面向未来。目前的灾后重建工作距这个要求还比较远,其中一个原因就是缺乏好的灾后重建方案。本次大赛提出了很多有创意的方案,对推动灾后重建工作无疑是一个进步。

兴奋与纠结是我们过去这几天评选工作的主要状态,有那么多才华横溢的方案,有那么多人在关注灾后重建工作,给我们评委工作提供了无穷的动力;但要从大量非常优秀的方案中,要甄选出最有创意和价值的方案,对评委的智慧是一个巨大的挑战。尽管在某些具体方案上我们纠结,还纠结了比较长的时间,但所幸我们通过认真细致的讨论,公正民主的投票,选出了我们认为最有代表性的作品,相信它对我们的灾后重建具有非常好的指导意义。

非常荣幸能与各位评委一起来完成一件非常有意义的工作。

Disaster shelter construction have to consider not only about human body or provide habitat for the victims of the shelter, but also human soul ,the spiritual homeland become victims. These buildings can not only help restore production and living order, but also to soothe the trauma of people, inspire people to rebuild the affected areas power better homes. As a witness of confusion and helplessness after the earthquake, I know disaster buildings should not only have “easy construction, rapid construction, reasonable structure” structural characteristics, but also need to have consensus culture, easy to read and accept the ordinary, having a mutual sharing of social significance and giving new life to the scene to face the future. The current reconstruction work is still relatively far away from this requirement. One reason is the lack of good post-disaster reconstruction. The competition made a lot of creative solutions , to promote reconstruction work is undoubtedly a step forward.

Excitement and tangled our main state past few days of judging since there are so many talented programs. So many people concerned about the reconstruction work, give us the work of the judges provide infinite power. From a large number of very good programs to the selection of the most creative and value of the program, the wisdom of the judges is a huge challenge. Although some specific programs we tangled, also tangled a long time. Fortunately we carefully discussed, fair and democratic vote for what we consider the most representative works , believe it our disaster reconstruction has a very good guide.

作为评审团中唯一的一名社会科学工作者,我的职责是在讨论与决策过程中,尽可能多地分析、提供关于尼泊尔-西藏地区灾后重建中所涵盖的社会条件。换言之,就是为作品的社会性与合理性把关,确保获奖作品是对受灾地区日常生活世界需求的呈现和提交。这就需要参赛者敏锐地把握特定的自然环境和复杂的社会现实、各异的人性和共通的情感,兼顾建筑的功能和质量,以及对社会网络(social network)的利用和关照。

这些理念是简单易懂的,下一步的问题就是进行操作化,并在诸多思考条件下找到辅应理念的切入点(entry point)。这是许多参赛作品的困惑所在,同时也是获奖作品脱颖而出之所在。例如,一等奖作品中的Big Family以巧妙的空间布局,将满足对核心家庭生活向往的半开放式的单体组合成一个具备社会支持功能的建筑群,我视其为个性与共情、家庭单位与社会网络的良好结合。另一个一等奖作品中,设计者专注于受灾严重的特定山区的应急学校建设,为此创造出一个操作系统——相关设备可空运、材料可就地取得、组装方便,同时对学校功能区进行开放式设定,解决了可达性、应急性和可持续性等诸多问题。在这其中,方案展现出的最大魅力在于它抓住了一个关键切入点——对结点的恰当思考,以此完美地诠释了快捷性(swiftness),可谓简单而不凡。

我在评审中还有另一重考量方式,也与其他评委在激烈且自由的探讨中表露过。面对每件作品时,我总会问自己一个问题:我,是否愿意住进去?这个问题帮助我在理念与经验、现实与想象、科学的方法和人本的意义、冷静的思考和大爱的关怀之间找到平衡共存的可能。建筑,终归是对人与生活的回答,即便在重灾之后,亦如此。

来自世界各地的参赛选手们,你们的才能、智慧和创造力令我印象深刻。“历史已证明,正是设计大赛,包括落选作品,开拓了建筑的未来”(安藤忠雄),所以无论是获奖者还是暂未胜出的建筑师们,请相信,你们就是未来。

作为评委的我们,并不想输出规范或方向,而是希望各位从我们的选择上,看到一些建筑师在面临大地和人类社会遭受重大创伤时的价值坚守:爱、尊重、敬畏,以及专业。

As the only social scientist in the jury, it’s my duty to analyze and provide social conditions, concerning reconstruction in Nepal-Tibet area, as much as possible. In other words, it’ my duty to check the sociality and rationality of the work, to make sure that the award-winning works present everyday needs of people in the disaster-stricken area. Then it demands participants’ sharp eyes to the particular natural environment, complicated social reality, different humanity and mutual emotions. It demands consideration about the function and quality of the buildings. It demands the use of social network as well.

These ideas are easy to understand. The next problem is to carry them out and find entry points that can work in concern with those ideas in different aspects. This is the reason why many works lost the competition. It’s the distinguishing feature of the winners as well. For example, Big Family, winning the first prize, integrates semi-open units that only satisfy the needs of nuclear family life into an architectural complex that can provide social support with an ingenious layout, which I personally regard as a good combination of general and specific characters, family units and social network. Another designer who has also won the first prize, focused on emergency school building of the hard-hit specific mountains, and created an operating system – transporting related equipments by air, gaining material in situ, assembling conveniently and setting up the school districts openly, which resolved problems about the accessibility, emergency and sustainability and many other issues. Among all the advantages, the greatest one of this program lies in its grasp of the key point – the appropriate reflection of nodes, which is perfect interpretation of swiftness This is simple and elegant.

There’s another term to measure in my judgment, and I also showed this to other judges through an exciting and uncontrolled discussion. Facing each works of the competitor, I would always ask myself a question “Am I willing to move in this?” And this question assisted me to catch the possibility of a balanced coexistence between concepts and experiences, reality and imagination, scientific means and man-based significance, inexcitable thinking and philanthropic concern. Building, it all kind of boils down to the answer to human and life. Even after heavy disasters, it’ll be still like that.

Contestants from all over the world, your talents, wisdom and creativity impressed me a lot. History has proven that it is because of the design competition that develops the future of architecture, including those works which failed to be chosen. (Ando Tadao ). 尼泊尔经历了一个可怕的恶梦、人们在度周末时一个超过汶川大地震还大的地震撞击了 Barpak。有个1300个家庭的房子几乎扫在地上。整个国家几千人身亡,几十万个房子倒塌。很多农村地区几乎变成了废墟、太可怕了。这时候GARS站出来为尼泊尔千家万户的家庭为他们倒塌的房子重新修建一个安定的房子开启个运动。来自全世界各个国家的设计师、建筑师都参与了这运动。整个过程温馨公正。很感动有那么多有爱的人都想帮助灾民重启家园。相信这些方案为尼泊尔重新站起来会有一定作用!

Nepal has experienced a nightmare. An earthquake greater than the earthquake in Wenchuan hit Barpak, during the time people were enjoying their weekend. Houses of tens of millions families were swept to the ground. Thousands died during the disaster. Many rural area nearly turned to ruins. It is unbelievable terrifying. At this time GARS start a campaign to reconstruct houses for thousands of Nepal residents, appealing architects and designers around the world. The total process is warming and fair. I am impressed by so many lovely people try their best to help the residents to build their home. I believe those works will help Nepal to rise again!

费毕刚/Fei Bigang:
结构工程安全与鉴定专家,清华大学博士、教授,国质(北京)建设工程检测鉴定中心主任。中国住房和城乡建设部建筑工程质量、建筑施工安全、建筑维护加固与房地产等三个标准化技术委员会委员。曾作为住建部专家组成员参加了汶川5.12震后房屋应急鉴定工作。

孙瑜/Sun Yu:
清华大学社会学系博士,主要研究方向为社区自组织、社会网络关系研究。清华大学社会科学学院信义社区营造研究中心执行顾问。2008年汶川震后深度参与乡村灾后重建,长期观察台湾及大陆地区的社区营造实践经验。供职于中国社会科学院社会科学文献出版社社会政法分社。完成合著《云村重建纪事——一次社区自组织实验的田野记录》。
